I saw Officer Crane's funeral on TV; The University of Riverside Pipe Band played.

We have some very fine pipers here amongst our Police and Sheriffs, perhaps one or more will pipe for Detective MacKay.

This entire episode has been unspeakably tragic and has kept all of us here in SoCal in a state of anxiousness until this final resolution.

It has been a great tragedy that has truly stirred some emotions here in Southern California.

As I said on the other thread, I and many other area pipers will be piping for Deputy MacKay this Thursday. We are deeply honoured to participate. A good turnout of pipers will be a fitting tribute.

Richard, or anyone that knows, can you tell me the Pacific Time of these ceremonies? I cannot be there but I would like to raise a glass in his honor during the time of the ceremonies. And to all the pipers that will be piping, THANK YOU

We did indeed have a good turnout, over 100 pipers played Amazing Grace for Deputy Jeremiah MacKay to start his funeral service.

Most of the pipers were police and fire personnel; it was amazing to look at all their arm-patches and see how far some had come: an entire Police Pipe Band from Boise Idaho, a piper from the Cleveland Police Pipe Band, three Canadian pipers. Of the non-piper officers I saw NYPD and NYFD who had made a 3,000 mile journey.

Here is the story seen yesterday afternoon on our local TV
