I am looking for a simple cutout of Washington State in Silver or Chrome that I could engrave. Also, being in the Pacific NW, I would like to find something crab shaped.
I don't always wear a kilt, but when I do, I've made it myself.
I was thinking of making some kilt pins out of poly resin. I found a great molding kit at the craft store. I could sculpt them in wax and then make a silicone mold for the resin, then paint them or add dye in the resin.
I made this primarily for flying, so as not to upset the security guys. An old washer with a smaller one glued on the back to cover the centre hole. The centre filled with sealing wax, stamped with the family crest and the whole then varnished. The back bit is two small magnets glued to another washer. Quite weighty but works well on an exposed airstrip.
Not tho Hijack, but I need some suggestions also for making or having made a kilt pin. I wish to make or have made a very simple pin using the unit crest pins from my three sons military units.

Richrail, are you meaning the 3 unit pins together as one kilt pin? If so, can you give us some idea of the size of each unit pin? If they are not too, large you could arrange and stick them to a flat metal disc (or whatever shape you want) and use the magnet method described in one of the earlier posts.

Rickall most American* Army Units have some sort of Distinctive Unit Insignia, examples can be found here http://www.vanguardmil.com/army-crests-c-1_41.html. They are made with two clutch (butterfly) pins for attachment to uniforms. I wear the DUI for my unit as a kilt pin using the pins on the back. If you have three DUI's they could be place is a triangle pattern and I think they would look very nice.
