I agree, its a lot of fun and a great way to meet women. I think many women just can't contain themselves, and I run into plenty of guys that want to wear a kilt one day and ask all kinds of questions. I have had two comments by women who passed by and said "nice skirt". The first time I was a little PO'd, but the second time I realized that the woman in question just couldn't find the right word at the moment and was actually being complimentary.

Well even though the kilt from SK came in a bit large, I DID wear it out and about for an hour albeit with little public showing except for a few jaunts to and from the car. Liberating and nerve wracking! As it is now on it's way to be altered slightly to fit me better, I won't have a chance to wear it until next week sometime. I will then be able to get out with it. Still nervous but that will hopefully go away.

I actually spent my first week with a huge chip on my shoulder. It took a little while to realize that it was totally unnecessary. Just relax, go about your business and enjoy the smiles.

I notice I'm not the only one getting a bit nervous to step outside by the front door.
But every time I did it, it felt like a victory. Let’s continue and enjoy the kilt.

Not only will the fear vanish, you'll soon look forward to kilted jaunts...the reason so many of us carry a staff when kilted is to protect ourselves from the onslaughts of women drawn to us men confident enought to sally forth kilted...

when you see the smiles on the faces of people, you will then understand that wearing the Kilt is just plain awesome!!

I don't wear a kilt out-and-about all that much -- ['cause I don't go out-and-about all that much] -- but a couple of my experiences might hopefully allay your fears: At a Wall-Mart I've gotten compliments of "that looks great," "sharp," and kudos for "preserving my ancestry" but probably the most memorable comment for me was from an attractive woman in an Irish Pub in Charleston who rather invitingly and provocatively asked: "Is it true what they say?" With my dear wife close by, I replied: "Not tonight!"

People will smile at you because you look different; You can smile at them because they all look the same...

Well, if I may add my two penneth worth. I have had all sorts of responses - from not noticing at at (University), to the ubiquitous "why are you wearing a kilt?"; to which I usually reply " Kilts are cool; I wear Kilts now". This helps, because if they are whovians, then they get the joke and we all laugh; and if they don't get the reference, then they are not whovians - and I do not care what they think!
