Brazilikilt, don't worry about it, it wasn't that big a deal. I'd wonder that a newspaper would print that letter, but so it goes.

Well, my comment to the author of this letter would be a big "HOOAH, Airborne", which is basic paratrooper talk for "Job well done"!
The language might have been a bit coarse, but that doesnt detract from the merit of the statement.

Well I wont delete the thread, but I have warned that objectionable material such as that needs to have a disclaimer.

    Respect is everything.

I abhor censorship, I come from a family of journalists. If we can't manage our conversations without calling in the PC cops (or sysadmin) then we are not really a community. And I feel like we are a community here. Thanks for the post Brasilkilt. I enjoyed it, but others did not. I don't think it's appropriate for this forum. But we all learned something here.
And you may ask yourself, Well how did I get here?

If it's posted as a link, with a warning, and someone's easily offended, they don't need to click on it. If they do, they have no gripe coming.
Censorship bothers me a whole lot more than obscenity...onward.

I guess according to the gospel of humanism that is fine, everything goes, no standards, do your own thing etc etc etc

If you want to lower the standard and the tone of the forum, then allow it. But most online forum have rules about language, altho I realise this was somewhat indirect.

Censorship is as necessary as speed limits are on the highway.

Well, maybe some of us are humanists. Nothing wrong with that. The only standards that count are those of the owner of the forum. Not yours, not mine.

I personally find religion to be offensive and disgusting, but if someone wants to talk about it, I'd never dream of saying his thread should be deleted...I just don't read it. I would expect the same from others.
