I like the look and proportions very much. I would echo the advise about using the barge cement in a well ventilated space. Still, I would consider sewing afterwards. Again, great job and happy wearing.

Thanks for the tips on Barge cement. I have lepage contact cement at home and it says it does leather, but I can tell by the responses that Barge must be a far safer bet for this kind of work.
Cheers,

Regarding the eyes, could you just close the lids? Think how much more peaceful the critter would look - asleep on your lap.

Best of luck!
No reply from Kate. Maybe she guards the secrets of her trade. That's fair enough.

She's usually rather prompt in responding to e-mails, so I think you may be right. Worth a shot, though!

The contact cement worked well. Here it is with the plastic eyes removed. I'm considering adding his legs as tassels but I may not bother.

Well done! I have made a few of these myself. I know that all the following advice comes too late but I offer it for future use or any others seeking the same. I have found a source of inexpensive glass eyes from a taxidermy supply house that I really like ( http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/Typ...Eyes-C426.aspx ). I glue the glass eye inside the eyelids and then glue another piece of leather underneath to keep it in place. As to glue, I really like the strength of contact cement which can be purchased inexpensively from a regular hardware store. Here is a photo of what mine looks like with the eyes. Again, GREAT JOB!
