Morning All,

I've just joined after lurking for quite a while - the forum has been a gold mine of information! Thank you to all who have contributed here.

My name's Andrew and I'm currently living in the good old USA, but I'm originally from northern New South Wales and will be hopefully getting back home to Australia in the next year or two. My forebears emigrated to Australia in the 1850's and settled in the New England region of NSW. The area in which they settled (near Wollomombi) became known as Scots' Corner due to the sheer number of Scottish families that had settled there ( Scots' Corner, A Local History, B.L. Cameron & J.L. McLennan ).

I currently have an 8-yard kilt in MacRae Hunting Ancient from USA Kilts in my possession. I purchased the kilt almost 2 years ago after taking 20 years to be in a position to be able to afford one. This kilt was to be paired with my Royal Australian Air Force mess dress however someone in their infinite wisdom recently removed the privilege (right?) to wear kilts with mess attire. It has seen a fair amount of use anyway for Burns' Suppers etc but I'm still bummed that I can't wear it at formal RAAF dinners.

I've just recently ordered another kilt from USA Kilts - a semi-traditional in MacRae Hunting which will be my 'sacrificial' kilt (if there can be such a thing) that will be worn whenever I feel the tank may be likely to suffer abuse.

And then of course, I have a plan to order a box pleat kilt from Matthew Newsome...the red Clan MacRae tartan most likely in Wilson's colours...although the MacRae (Prince's Own) is tempting.

I look forward to discussing all things kilt related with you in the future,

Andrew McRae
