Rourke-Frew Hunting design hints

My favourite is #3, because I like the muted brown tones, however I would consider it to be a "reproduction" or "weathered" tartan. I think either of the others is a better example of a "hunting" tartan.

Just my opinion.

Hello Bill...I am having the same issue regarding the "weathered" versus "hunting" with that particular sett. As far as I have been reading Generally speaking, a hunting tartan is simply a tartan that is based more in greens and blues, and often browns. At first glance I would choose the browns but like you mentioned it may not be a "hunting" tartan anymore. I like the green/blues but I am having issues with the scarlet looking more like a purple from a distance because of it being set on so much blue and the fact that there are so many tartans with that colour combo. I may have to go back to the drawing board with this one?
