Congratulations! I hope you survive the commute.

[ there's a river between Point A and Point B, and Bill's best route would be about halfway between two bridges 50 km apart. ]

Fluter, my current run is 301 to I-95 to 521. However, since the trip is 61 miles each way, Continental is offering relocation services. Since the Missus has shifted to the Hobby Lobby at Forrest Drive, the difference between Sumter to Columbia versus Orangeburg to Columbia is that her run would be about the same time with less mileage. Since Sumter/Shaw AFB is more city living, we are planning to move.

cessna152towser, it wasn't so much a "re-training" as it was a "get a degree in the field that I have been working in for over 35 years" project. I was a US Navy Shipboard Electrician who did not pass Naval Nuclear Power Prototype Training; hence a lot of additional electronics training over the years. Add to that I served on three ships that were boiler powered, I already had an inkling about instrumentation and proportional valves. My last ship was a Perry Class Frigate, so more electronics learning after I arrived. I've spent the last 13 years working in industrial maintenance. Very little was hard in my courses with the exception of Boolean Algebra. When I was informed that I had to take CAD, I was a bit miffed, seeing that I had actually done drafting work in High School. Then I started playing with the computer! Perfect print every time!
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

Bill: Congratulations on your AAS degree, your success, and most impressively, your perseverance. Thank you for sharing part of your story with us. Good luck on your relocation and your new job with Continental Tires.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
