Thank you for that warm welcome, Gentlemen.
    I´m glad to be aboard.

Forgot to say one thing, Rod Roy is just my username. Please let me introduce myself, my name is Ruediger, I´m a German lad who loves to wear the kilt. I collect tartans, especially from the pre-Culloden era, and I re-enact both The 45 and The Seven Years War. Good to be here. Thanks again.

    Cheers,
    Rod

For all the tartan lovers who are interested in my Lord John Drummond Reconstruction, here´s some additional information.

The colours I used are Dark Green for the centre stripe of the green section and also for both the 6-thread stripes and the 8-thread stripes, a matching Green for the surrounding squares, a brownish Red which I call "Fox Red" for the background, and a matching Grey for the overstripes.

As for the photos, I´m sorry, the pics don´t do justice to the Tartan. A friend of mine, who is a professional photographer, will shoot some pics soon. When I´ve received the photos, I´ll post a pic of a box pleated kilt and another one of a belted plaid.

    Yes I agree, Sir.
I also think Grey is a good choice. By the way, in my variant the overstripes are only two threads wide.

    Well Done!
    Literally unique.
I particularly like the width of the box-pleats.

As a hint for all the lads who are interested in Living History.
My friends and I reenact the Jacobite era, both Highland Clan and Highland Soldiers.

When we portray the Highland Soldiers of the "Compagnie des Régiment du Royal Écossois" we proudly wear the Lord John Drummond Tartan -- and we adopted it as the Royal Ecossais Tartan. Since the historical sources don´t give a clear answer, it is just an educated guess that the Grenadiers of the Royal Écossais wore that tartan, but it seems quite obvious.
