My mother is ninety-one and I read the joke to her yesterday. She is still chuckling about it today and can not wait to retell it later this week when she meets with her fellow volunteers to sew blankets for the kids in the Shriner's hospital.
I sent this to a relative of mine and he came back with:
Watching all this going on, the Welshman thought that the Greek’s idea was good.
He also thought that the Scot’s involvement in introducing it to women (presumably rather than just amongst men) was a great improvement.
Much better, he thought, than just the usual sheep.
So, he then spent the rest of creation perfecting the Art of Love.
For ever after the women of the world always preferred their lovers to be Welsh.
