After lurking in the shadows for some time here, I have decided to try my hand at making a kilt. A) because I'm cheap and B) I wanted to ensure it truly was something I'd be comfortable wearing. I have no idea if this is an official tartan. It was the only large sett pattern I could find at my local Joann's store. Printed cotton but a hheavy duck material. Honest opinions and criticisms are not only welcome bbut encouraged. ( yes, I need to shorten the length. Just had to try it on before I finished it)

Nice pleats. I'll be interested to see pictures when you're finished (including shortening the length ).

Hi Micah, Your kilt looks good so far! What has been the most difficult part of the project for you?
Yes, looking forward to clearer photos and updates on your project. BTW - Did you post an introduction of yourself in the new member thread of the forum? Hawk

Welcome aboard! This is only the first of many kilts! It is an addiction!

Ok I'm finally finished. Hiburnicus, that's a great question. The best answer I can give though is patience. The hardest part of the whole affair. I think I'll buy that book I keep reading about though. Hawk, I did but thank you for checking. Here are some better pictures. 20140119_230954 (1).jpg20140119_231006.jpg20140119_231022.jpg20140119_201359.jpg Now all I need to do is buy a sporran and hose and ....... LOL
