Well... the jacket and waistcoat came in and I must say that the material used is nicer than I expected it would be! As expected, I will need to enlist the services of a tailor as the sleeves are a bit lon the long side and the chest and belly need a wee bit taken in too.
I will post pics of myself wearing it as soon as it gets back from the tailor and as soon as finish making my brown day sporran!

Christopher I am glad it worked out for you. Just wondering whether the bill from the tailor added to what you paid T4L is still less than what you would have paid had you gone to Steve at freedom kilts or Rocky at USAkilts?

Way off topic I know, but I have just seen the news, its a tad damp down your way Simon! I hope you have managed to keep your feet dry?

The Test is just about to break the banks, main roads are fine. But side and back roads are badly flooded. Should be able to tickle a few trout on the road to Stockbridge.
Apologies for the severe diversion.

I ordered a nice dark grey argyle jacket and waist coat and they were a bit large too. BUT, with an additional $30.00 spent at the tailoring, I have a perfectly fitting jacket and vest.
I've looked at that green jacket and waist coat and thought about buying one. Last month I bought an X-hire 7 yard 16 oz. granite highlander tartan kilt from this company. I thought it was a good price (99 pounds) and when it showed up it was just as nice as I'd hoped it would be....for 99 BPS...
About a year ago (when they were a different name), I ordered a 5 yard, 13 oz. kilt from them, and it's nice too. I know that every one can have a different experience, or interpretation of the experience , but I've never been disappointment with either their service or merchandise.
They seem to offer nice (and quality) products for what I think is about 75-80% of other vendors prices. Of course I fully acknowledge that "quality of an item, and quality of service are hard to quantify", and that this is just my opinion, and others may feel differently.
So,....I like this company as a vendor, and the quality of merchandise that they have delivered to me has met my expectation of quality for the $$$ .

Nice to hear about the fabric! It means a lot to me, having the 'feel' of the fabric just right.
About the sleeves, many here will disagree with me, but I prefer having the sleeves longer than people wear with a 'Saxon' jacket. 'Saxon' sleeves are often way up at the wrist, while in old photos of men in Highland Dress it's very common for the sleeves to come halfway between the wrist and the knuckles, and that's where I prefer them. In the Army the sleeves can oftentimes be seen even longer.

Grizzly,
I have just done the exchange rate calculations. These are almost the same stock size jacket and vest set that I charge about $85.00 less for. My price for Jacket and vest is $386.50cdn or $348.73usd at today's exchange rate.
And I offer your choice of 22 different fabrics at no extra cost. And contrasting color vest if desired. As long as you fit in a stock size.
With the original cost of this jacket and vest, plus shipping, and the tailoring, I could put you in a truly made-to-measure jacket and vest. All I need is a full set of 6 measurements. This means you get the exact sleeve length you want up front. With made-to-measure you even get to choose your cuff treatment, epaulette type. and button style.
And no duty charges.
