I guess it's time for the black armbands. I have Season 1 and 2 on DVD and season 3 and 4 on tape. I only wish I could do something but hopefully someone from BBC will find something just as good to fill the gap.

Oh dear, I missed this post, the end of Monarch??? (bang, graham hits the floor)
Oh well, gotta be filasofical aboot it, all good things come to an end, hamish will live on, he got many of us inspired about kilts and we go on from there.
I'm intelligent enought to realise that in real life Hamish Clark probably wears trousers.
So that makes us the true "Hamish's" doesn't it? we don't act or pretend.
(I'm trying hard to conceal my heartbreak with pure, unadulterated pragmatism here)
As Ned Kelly said before he was hanged: "such is life".

Well, he was wearing a kilt (and his black leather jacket) when I met him a couple of years ago. However, that was whilst he was making a 'public appearance', and he changed into jeans shortly afterwards!!

Maybe that is why the BBC is taking him and the others off the air, he is not a true gentlemen,
because gentlemen wear kilts.

I'm watching the final of the current series now, the hogmanay episode, pretty nonsense really what with ghosts etc.
As usual, a good series has gotten worse and worse and ended up crappy. Shame really.
Still, it was good that Paul discovers his roots through wearing his grandfathers' kilt.

Good Day All!
You have just succeded in piqueing my curiosity!
I have never seen "Monarch of the Glen" nor have I seen it ever listed on any of our channels but being smack dab in the middle of nowhere in the great State of ND I'm not surprised. Can anyone suggest where I might rent or borrow some episodes? I don't want to make a purchase until I am sure I want the goods. Judging from the outcry here though it sounds like an interesting show.
My condolences Grahmn
Bill
May all your blessings be the ones you want and your friends many and true.

Thanks Bill, and welcome to Xmarks, not sure if I have welcomed you before (not that it's my official job, just a nosey git).
One of our US members might better tell you where you can get Monarch of the Glen on video or DVD, your outlets are different to ours Down Under.
It is a groundbreaking series in many ways, one of the main characters - Duncan, played by Hamish Clarke has been an inspiration to many of us in terms of wearing a casual kilt.
If you love the tartan, you'll like the series, I'm sure.
