I know I started out thinking that there must be the perfect kilt for all seasons, alas, such is not the case.
I hope my kilt collection will eventually consist of a range of light, medium and heavy kilts, with a variety of materials, PV, wool blend and wool. I hope soon to try an eight yard PV, I think that will be a good alrounder.

I thought you already had one, Graham?
My 8 yard poly-vis is fine for summer weight. The only difference I found between it and the worsted wool is the fabric surface characteristics. I find myself flattening out the aprons with the palm of my hands after standing up. Since I only have the one, I don't know if this common or not. It's not a big deal at all.
As far as routine... weekends = kilts (mostly) Can't be bothered during the week.

Blu, my PV is a 4 yard casual, my 8 yards are heavy wool and a wool blend.
I like the stain resistance of PV for a work kilt, but the heavy, coarse wool keeps looking good too, I've not had it cleaned yet after a year of use.
