Opinions Wanted: New Kilt Jacket (PIC)

Is it a single or double rear vent (or none)? Kilt jackets as you know are generally (always) double vented. It looks fine to me from the front, but I'd like to see a rear shot, before passing judgement.

It is single-vented. While I know that kilt jackets are usually double-vented, is there a reason for this beyond convention? Kilts jackets are also usually made of wool, but this one is cotton and I'll be grateful for that fact when the full summer heat hits!

I think the double vents are more aesthetically pleasing versus a single vent. Just my opinion though. I think the jacket looks very smart on you! Gorgeous colour.

Here's a quick and dirty shot of how the back looks... please ignore anything that might be askew because I threw everything on just for the picture... I'd steam the jacket and kilt if I were going out. FYI my fell ends just below the orange line visible under the jacket.

Excellent! Thanks for uploading the photo so quickly, Colin. I'll be honest with you, it appears that the jacket may be just a wee bit on the long side as far as typical kilt jackets are concerned. However, it doesn't seem to be interfering with the pleats in any way. I must say that I really like the look of it on you, especially when paired with the green-based tartan you are wearing.

It's a fine line, eh? There are a number of things about this blazer that are different than a typical kilt jacket. That's to be expected considering it isn't a kilt jacket! Nonetheless, I think it can function as a kilt jacket because it doesn't interfere with the pleats or the sporran and has fairly classic—albeit slim—tailoring.

My main concern is that it still looks smart, even though it isn't exactly typical

I have to agree with plaidpreacher it looks great in person and having seen it I never thought anything was wrong with it.

I might even be tempted to go check one out for myself, but you noted that it is a slim-fit...and ... well... I think I left my slim-fit body in another decade.
