Painters overalls are traditionally white, if this utilikilt was white also then I could not imagine it!
I cannot see myself in a white kilt.

Thanks Hamish, I may yet be converted!

For the quality and incredible workmanship on the kilt, it's MORE than worth the $185. And as far as looking ANYTHING like a s&!*t... not even close! These are the original in "tough" when it comes to the solids.

    take the plunge graham

graham ya got to buy at least an original utilikilt it is similar to the workmans except a different material and less pockets the material on the workmans is a sturdier 12 oz duc cloth similar to the stuff carhart jackets and clothes are made of except the cloth on the workmans is not stiff like the carhart material.

i agree with Jimmy Carbomb they are tough

take the plunge graham if ya dont like it ya can always sell it on here or e-bay

if you do decide to order one call and talk to uncle otto, and remember to check there sizing page they have an 800 number too

    thanks

Ohh the pressure, I can't take it, my head hurts, I know they are tough, I love the hammer loops, but where is the lovely tartan pattern, it's not there, it's plain, no pattern at all?

Seriously, I like the black one ...except for those silver studs. Now I know Kilted in KC would love them, he's young, the young love shiny silver things hanging off their bodies.

me, I'm a bit more conservative, if the studs were invisible it would be an improvement....plus a nice tartan pattern on it.

I'm wondering if the Utilikilts shrink at all. I'm asking because I've had Carhartt duck trousers in the past, and they always shrink when you wash them - around and length wise. I know that the utilikilts are made of similar fabric, so I was just wondering.

    Rufus,

I have not had any shrinkage problem with the workman's, it still seems to fit well. Or could it be that I am shrinking too? hehe

You won't get any shrinkage if you stay warm and dry and ... oh ... never mind. I'm on the wrong topic again.

My workman seemed to be sized a tad large to allow for shrinkage. After washing it several times in hot water it is just now the size that the label says it is.

Graham, maybe you could get some sunglasses with cross-hatching on them so you could fool your eye long enough to try the Utilikilt. I suspect that if you try one you'll find the Utilikilt to be just another weapon in the kilt wearers arsenel. After all, if Rhino can be swayed by tartan you can surely be brave enough to try plain.

Like I said before Graham 'go on you know you want to'. As someone said if you don't like it sell it on ebay. They fetch nearly the price of a new one, so you wouldn't lose much.
Here's a challenge, I've heard it said that tartans a safe option when wearing a kilt, like a crutch. Throw away the crutch Graham, pick up thy kilt and walk.
    Cheers Rhino

    Graham,

The Painter's Utilikilt WAS indeed white. In fact it was very similar indeed to my white Workman's model - and, yes, I have just posted a photo of that, for your delectation, in my personal Gallery here at "X".

Look Laddie, if I can wear a white kilt at my advanced time of life, so can you.

Wow! I really am on a "photo run" this evening!
