When I was in Scotland in August I was planning to write a kilt diary but...there was to little nto write in...
Most of the people I saw in kilts were shop assistant or guides. Just one older guy wearing a kilt seemed not to be one of both...
I had some kind comments on my kilt (one from an American at Hector Russell in Glasgow...maybe he felt encouraged to buy one himself!?).
My GF who is very fond of kilts (and me in my kilt of course) always wonders why the scots wear their wonderful garment so rarely. She is from Bavaria and told me that Lederhosn haven't been worn 20 years ago excerpt of tourist guides and waiters in typical restaurant. Today it is very common also for every "ususal" bavarian to wear them...maybe the Scots will have a similar king of developement...hopefully!!!
Finally I saw a group of about 10 young guys in kilts but it was .....in Amsterdam lol:

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

    Lederhosen! Lederhosen!

When last in Bayern (Bavaria), Germany, Lederhosen were few and far between except at Festival, basically Mardi Gras in Munchen (Munich).

Still, there were some Lederhosen in stores and a splendid Munich shop (Almenrausch) which sold nothing but Lederhosen and Dirndls in a wide selection of sizes and colours and patterns. Was with daughter who was studying in Germany and we purchased (intended to) respectively, Dirndl kit for her and knee-length Lederhosen with fancy braces (suspenders) for her father.

'Must say, Lederhosen are splendidly comfortable in Chicago's cooler weather and just plain fun to wear. Kilt hose are perfect for Lederhosen, BTW.

    Eccentric minority! Eccentric minority!

"Eccentric minority" is in this opinion, a magnificent description of bold kilted men...apparently anywhere in the world...apparently, including Highland Scotland.

THIS! I also wear bow ties and my favorite quote about them is this:

The majority of men who wear bow ties do so because the majority of men do not.
