I really do like the tartan. Though I am not sure I need another kilt right now.

Yeah, but I think they were going for the tartan representing the Earth rising as viewed from the moon where the moon would appear larger in that situation (as in the picture).
It is a nice tartan, and would look good either way, I think.

Hmm, maybe, I can see your point more in the Tartan Register image, though flipping them might be too blue or emphasize the grey?
I particularly like the original picture, combined with the Earthrise because I think the size of the bright blue crosspoint in the darker background represents the smallness of our planet against the vast expanse of the Universe, while the brightness reflects the rare jewel that is the "Blue Planet" and its inhabitants.

I can see a certain "Texas" gentleman wearing this to the ComicCon with a Star Trek shirt and emblem.....any guesses?
