I think it's just another link in the chain of the "long kilt" revolution in North America. I see this on younger men... esp. those after the celtic punk look. ergo.. There will be young men watching Modonna's how and thinking that the long kilts look pretty cool.

Booo! Jimmy's been sipping on Haterade!
Next, you'll be calling her Poly-Esther, or other rude things.
C'mon Jimmy, where's the love ?!?
Where's the love? Just look what she's done to that poor piper's pride!

Pride, smide, think what she has done for his bank account. And probably exposing folks to the glory of the pipes who'd never have listened otherwise.

That's right, I forgot that in this day and age everything is for sale! :o

On a serious note, I'm wondering if she went for the longer lengths for dancing purposes. Maybe with all of the dancing they do on stage, maybe the longer length was more suitable for what was needed?
Hey, I'm just trying to give her the benefit of the doubt.

After the "kilts" are sent, then you can get back up on the horse and do what you want with your offerings.
I can't imaging that Piper ever using that kilt again after the Madonna gigs... unless it's altered.

Jimmy,
Not ANY kiltmaker. I've turned down rush orders of ten kilts twice because I would have had to make the customers who had already paid wait even longer for their kilts.
I wouldn't sacrifice my reputation for one sale, even a large sale.
And I'm sure there are traditional kiltmakers who would have turned her down just for the length of the kilts. Some kiltmakers won't even make kilts for women to wear!

Colin,
I know you were being sarcastic because you know not everything is for sale.
I don't listen to lines from movies, looking for ways to better my life but ... Rob Roy, to his sons in the movie Rob Roy:
"Honour is a gift you give to yourself."

you got me Bear, "sarcasim" is my middle name. I've always loved that line from Rob Roy.

I apologize, and stand rightfully corrected! 8)
I will now punish my evil words by cleansing my mouth with Tullamore Dew.
Dang. I've got to be controversial more often!

Looks as if they were made so that everyone's kilt would be at the same level regardless of their height.
