I wear my Balmoral cap with jeans all the time. I'm not a t-shirt wearer so mine gets worn with button downs mostly. Mine is always sporting a cap badge, usually a Scottish thistle or an XMarksTheScot clan badge. As Thistledown said I love the feel of the loose ribbons flowing freely in the wind. The Balmoral never fails to get compliments and is a nice icebreaker whether kilted, or wearing p@nts. As someone mentioned the more you wear it, in all kinds of weather the more it will sit "properly" on your head, and the better it will look.
There is also the option of Jocking your bonnet as discussed here: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...almoral-57667/

Ohhhhh I do love hats. I have a dozen or so. Ball caps, drivers, fedoras, three cowboy hats, a fine tweed herringbone cap or two. But to date, no balmoral. I may need to do some horse tradin' and swap out a Stetson for one.

At this time of year it is the ideal thing to add to your outfit of any kind - I stack up my bonnets by the door as soon as the first colour appears on the trees and start to wear them in the evenings. It is surprising (to me, even now) how the same garments can be warm enough with the addition of a good head covering but too cold without one.

Thanks! i do see the hat as step above a ball cap and don't see it working too well with just a tshirt and jeans, although I could be wrong. So I figured a polo or button up would look smart with the balmoral. The reason I chose jeans over nicer pant styles is that I am big into weightlifting and have continued to outgrow my pants. Can't afford right now to buy khakis only to not fit in them three months later. That's one of the many reasons I love the kilt, my legs always fit in it.

I'm a hat wearing fool. Since the first Fedora that my granddad let me try on at age three, I've worn everything from WW I aviator helmets to those odd rubber bathing caps used in the Olympics. Any time, for any reason, with any clothes, its head gear for me.

Take the same question as the OP posted but add a clan badge to the balmoral. Any opinions change?
Studies have shown that women who gain a few pounds live longer than men who mention it.
