Those seem to actually be fitted for us mere mortals... I'll definitely inquire about having a pair made in my size.

What Price Glory sources their kilts and trews from Pakistan, but if that is alright with you, go f or it. Their regulation 22oz military kilts are pretty decent repros for the money.

Thank you for alerting me to the provenance of the items sold by WPG. If I could afford better, believe me: I would much prefer to purchase such items. Unfortunately, Highland Attire is considerably expensive on this side of the pond, and my budget is virtually nonexistent.

I know what you mean. For a generally tight bunch, you have to shell out some pretty big bucks to be a Scot!

Being a Scot was free... Dressing in my ethnic attire is expensive beyond belief. Why such a thrifty bunch make such expensive stuff is beyond me.
Being also part-German, I recently looked into Tracht as an option... even more expensive. Looks like I'll need to found Stillewasser Tracht and bring lederhosen (and bundhosen!) to the masses.

I'm half German as well (my father's side is 100%), and they hail from Michigan also. The Maternal side is Scottish and Welsh with a bit of Irish thrown in, from the South since the late 1600s.

Nice to hear! I don't know the ins and outs, as I was adopted shortly after birth. Going off of surnames and descriptions of my birthparents, I'm part Scottish from the paternal side (Dean being a sept of Clan Davidson and apparently having ties with some of the other Chattan members) and part German from the maternal side (Gratz being ascribed to Germany, Prussia, or Austria depending where you look).

They do come up on ebay but rarely in the larger sizes. I'm after a 34" pair in Black Watch and even this size seems hard to come by.

Yes, as you say most are in VERY small sizes. I bought a pair of A&S Officer's trews in an unbelievably small size just to add to my Militaria collection. It is amazing that there are adult men that small to wear them.

The military are usually rather young men - my waist was 25 inches in my early 20s, I have some really good suede and leather garments I've kept from back then which would - if I decided to repurpose them, make medium sized handbags.
