Eyeing my 2nd kilt with the questions

After seeing so many kilts worn at the navel level, I've wondered if it was breaking some rule to wear it at the true waist level which I prefer. Great to hear it's not an issue!

As an FYI, wearing the kilt at the navel or 2" above the navel IS the true waist. Where you wear your jeans is 2 - 4" BELOW your true waist. We call that wearing it at "jeans waist".

All right. I'm convinced to remain wearing any kind of kilt at the true waist.. Why fix it if it's not broken?

You might also consider the possibility that you might want to get a jacket or waistcoat at some point. If so, the kilt needs to be high enough to allow the coat to overlap. Otherwise, the shirt shows between the two and can ruin the outfit.

I have 2 USA Kilts casuals & I wear them both at true waist . Just seems right - plus you can still wear it with fancier attire if you so desire .

This is a bit off-topic regarding the original question (I have nothing new to add to what's already been said on that), but something else very important occurred to me today, and I felt it would be appropriate to express it when you mentioned "questions now that you're eyeing a second kilt".

For Petes' sake, buy a couple of hangers!

I've read a number of threads here discussing the topic, and there are some very good ideas about making use of cheap hangers, and techniques for doubling them up; but whether it's that, or just buying a kilt hanger from Scotweb or Kilts-n-stuff or something, do it. Plan ahead!

I am wishing now that I'd given this aspect of kilt ownership proper thought ahead of time, as I still have no suitable way to hang my own newly-arrived kilt, so I have to - for the moment - make due with carefully laying it somewhere it won't get mussed up.
