SAMS at the Korean War Memorial Washington DC
This Saturday evening, July 25th, the Scottish American Military Society will be participating in the 8th Annual Armistice Day Peace Concert & Vigil at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and the Korean War Memorial on the mall in downtown Washington. I will have the honor of being in the color guard. http://remember727.org/

Purely out of interest Geoff, are the assorted allies in that conflict represented too at this event? Do they get a mention?

Jock,
I've not been to this event previously, however, in my experience memorial services for military actions/groups do tend to acknowledge Allies that served as well.
I'm sure it various depending upon the speaker/host, but that is my experience.

Actually, one of the speakers this year is an Ethiopian veteran of the Korean conflict, so apparently yes. This is my first time at this event, so I can't say from personal experience.

A single squadron of the South African Air Force served in Korea. Its commander later became Chief of the SA Air Force, and afterwards was a Member of Parliament for an anti-apartheid party.

Can I be a bother and ask what exactly the Scottish-American Military Society is/is for? Husband is a combat vet (Operation Iraqi Freedom), and while he wants to get involved in stuff, he's dragging his feet so I'm doing the detective work for him.

Lulu, that is a great question, and no bother at all. I`m not the one to give you a comprehensive reply, but I know that it is an organization for those of Scottish descent who have served in the U.S. military. I have a good friend who served in the Korean war era who is an active member. I`m sure someone who knows more about it will be along to tell you more.

Having had a great Uncle that served during the Korean War as a Marine, I would love to attend but can not. Please issue my gratitude during your participation and I will remember from here in MS at the Veterans home. There are still men and women that need our attention. Thank you.

According to the website, one of the speakers is "Sergeant Ashenafi Kebede who fought in the Korean War as part of the Imperial Ethiopian Bodyguard ".
"Don't give up what you want most for what you want now."
Just my 2¢ worth.
