I would say the Cornish summer weather in the most Southerly Part of England was particularly Cool this Year. Come first of September The Indian Summer is just warm enough to wear a 7 yard 8oz Kilt for Twelve hours a day out doors. Following advice from a regular kilt wearer in Scotland I have ordered an 8 yard 16 oz kilt for winter wear with an over jacket. The skill seems to be in having a variety of Kilt Cloth weights to change into as the weather changes without warning. From 72 down to 58 at 5 pm one afternoon.I would not expect the weather to chill intil 7 pm in the summer. This whole thing has been possibly caused by the UK jet stream normally over Scotland moving four hundred miles further south again and Lows and have been upto 1012 mb. I would expect low to be 985 to 998 M\b

    xxxxx xxxxxkkk .................................................. .hhhhh............................................ ........................
Posting again. It now seems I was wearing my 8 yard 8 oz light long kilt Kilt. This the same gross weight as my 7yard 12oz thirty five year old kilt, Kilt being a cheapie is an inch longer from from fell than my 7 yrd 12 oz kilt
The 7 YRD !12 oz is warmer than 8yrd 8 oz.
I am hoping 8yrd 16 oz tank will be warmer for winter.
I certainly feel that the Computer system is more confusing than Kilt weights. .......Roderick

    Roderick ,

I don't think Ramsay blue tartan has much in common with Black Watch . The hiker gent you met must have been a little confused .

Here is a visual for you .

    Ramsay

    Black Watch
