My single "ding" (the bell rang moment) was for cleaning my kilt and woolens (socks and caps) without the first thought, "which dry cleaner do I trust". That led to dying threads, repair of holes, etc.
I considered myself a frugal, do-it-yourself person, but some habits (that waste money unnecessarily) have gone by the way side since I joined the threads. Thanks to all of you.

My comment wasn't all in jest!
There have been many "lightbulb moments" in Jock's various threads and posts over the years. Yes the 'telling comments' thread was one.
This entire forum has been a continuous beacon, from which I can't single out a particular post or thread.
The biggest visual impressions, perhaps, have been from the various threads about Prince Charles' dress, and the thread of vintage photos.

But better accessoriesed (if that's a word) in the first pic. No single light bulb moment for me, just a gradual brightening, particularly with regard to being sensitive to others feelings about culture and tradition.

1. There is no historical context for the Jacobite shirt.
2. Great kilts are only appropriate for reenacting/living history.
3. The mind-boggling number of kilt wearers that go regimental!

After thinking about buying a kilt I found this site, and due to not being well, I spent almost an entire day reading just about every thread here. Not so much as a light bulb but an enormous searchlight.

Actually the biggest lightbulb moment on the forum came from someone who isn't participating any more, I think. What he had to say had nothing at all to do with kilts, but a lot to do with dealing with "the internet"! ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
Regarding kilts, I can't recall any single "lightbulb" moment, but instead, literally years of little head-scratchers that lead to forming my own opinions....hopefully somewhat educated, if not always in line with what most XMTS participants like to hear.

There is always something to learn and much of what I have learnt, maybe not always agree with however, on this website, has little to do with the kilt. In my humble opinion the most useful thread on this website was posted by David Pope titled, "Highlanders Discuss Highland Attire". A wide ranging discussion, sensitively discussed(most of the time!), that I think many found really helpful.
Perhaps some kind soul could do one of those link thingies to help those that might be interested in reminding themselves of its content, or reading for the first time what was discussed. Put an hour, or two. aside to wade through a classic.
