Way to go Derek! I think that the more you wear the kilt you'll find that we create most negativity in our own minds. Occasionally you'll run into cretins like Bill (Rigged) descibed, I know I have, but they are more to be pitied than feared. Just keep going out and facing the world on your own terms.

Rocky, this is so true! If you show signs of apprehensionon or nervousness others will pick up on that. Like dogs, they can smell fear. As for the shouts from cars... this is a universal constant. They're just being ignorrant, so I ignore them.

Derek, as far as the kilt goes... keep the momentum going. Once you stop and put it away for a while, it's like a step backward. If you want to get out a bit try a bank or the pharmacy (chemist?).

If you want a reason to get out in your kilt, then here's an assignment for you. Pick a local landmark, take you wife and a camera there, take some nice photo's, and report / post back here in the gallery. If there's other people milling about, so much the better. Now you have a reason to get out there and have some fun. Assignment is due in one week. Good luck!

Thanks again guys for your continuing support. As I have said before I have no problems in wearing my kilt away from home and like Rigged I have had the odd negative remark when someone has passed me in the street and shouts from cars, but thats par for the course and it does'nt bother me whatsoever. Similarly as Freelander mentioned as to what the older people may have thought about me to themselves after they left Thurs morning ... to be honest I don't care .. now that they have seen me in my kilt its up to them to lump it or like it. Its just that first hurdle I must get over. I'm trying my best at present to shrug off this local/on my doorstep hangup that I seem to have. I think I'm winning.... albeit slowly.
Ham ... were looking forward to London and no, I have never worn my kilt in London so that will be a first.
Blu ... As it happens one of the local churches is having a bank holiday fayre on Sat. I intend wearing my kilt and I will make that my project and will take some pictures.
Pity you were all not living closer .. I'd buy you all a pint of Brains SA bitter.... cracking Welsh Beer. Derek
