Boy, is your bank slow. As far as footgear goes, I stick with black atheletic shoes, low cut, and military boots. I have a pair of sandals but I don't wear them very often.

    clogs...

The web site that Casey provided concerning the Breton/Brittany Tartan sells wooden shoes (sabot de bois), the traditional footwear of Brittany, which could be worn with a Breton tartan kilt -- and a pair of Dutch wooden shoes could be worn with the Dutch Mackay Tartan, I suppose. I do remember seeing a photo of a chap in a book wearing wooden shoes for his mother's Belgian heritage with his kilt.

I agree with Ham. One should never wear sandals with socks, never.

I do wear sandals with a tartan kilt, don't have a plain one yet, wife's rules. It does look very casual thought. As soon as there is some need to "dress" the sandals come off and on go the socks and boots.

Well, Sandels/ Flip Flops are a standard here on the beach.
people wear them out to nice resturants, everything. Keep in mind I Live 2 blocks from the beach, (think Jimmy Buffet)
I will have to look around for canvas kilt that catches my fancy.

I have worn Sandals with my Tartan Kilt before, and I don't think it is that bad. May be I am just a young pup and have been spending too much time in Sandals for the last 10 years.

I was auctualy looking at that , Bubba the MARPAT style, I wear my pants to work around the house now, I was thinking how cool it would be to get a kilt, Pittsburgh kilts, has some of the material, I has thought about it for sure. and the Tan would match my Flops

here is a small pic of the Island of Destin.

I know that places that are land locked and all or it is not as tropical as here may see flip flops diffrently but here they are almost considered a regular shoe.

Ham is spot on with my own assessment here.

I have a pair of Merrell clogs that are comfortable to wear, but I NEVER get caught wearing them off my property. When I do, and no insult intended to those who are given to bouts of historical reenactment or who simply feel they need the added protection, but I feel as though I might as well be carrying a sword around. I even feel funny wearing sneakers with my kilts. Wife says they look fine, but even when the day is hot I often decide on hose and heavy boots.

That said, whatever floats your boat, though. Isn't that what this is all about?!

Wearing clogs (Birkenstock clogs) is historically accurate. Go look around for Celtic clogs. It's a very old traditional shoe.

Doc Martens would probably look a bit better though. But nothing beats a nice pair of Birkenstocks for comfort.

That is the point isn't it? Being comfortable? Wearing a kilt to let your boys dangle and be free, and wearing sandles or clogs to let your feet be free. Let your boys and your toes wiggle freely.

Why go half way? We can get crunched nuts and hammertoes and corns or we can embrace freedom and comfort.
