I think that Father Bill and Jock hit it on the head. Consider what the non-kilted men will be wearing and then pick a kilted outfit that would be similar.
Definitely ask the bridal couple what they consider "cocktail" attire and then match your attire in kilt to their level of formality.

Thanks for the replies from everyone!
To answer people's questions about timing, the wedding is to start at 6 PM, and will be at a time of year when that should provide about two hours of additional daylight.
My current inclination is to go with something that's a bit more formal than just 'daywear', and to use the following, at least (which I own, and which still fit!):
- black Argyle jacket and vest
- gray-fur, silver-cantle sporran
- black, ghillie shoes
All of the above is subject to change, though.
I'd consider wearing a Prince Charlie, however I do not own one, yet. I'm sure that while that level of formality would be welcomed, I'm imagining that it's not strictly necessary. I'd be surprised to see too many people, if any, in tuxes, perhaps outside of members of the wedding party.
Regarding the exact definition of "cocktail attire", I'll ask the couple the next time I see them, which will probably be within the next week or two. I have some guesses at what this is, based on knowing the couple and seeing what they've worn when going out for cocktails (in/around Boston), but asking does seem prudent.

It sounds like the event meets the old "after six" criterion for evening wear, so your black jacket and tie with furry sporran would be appropriate based on that. But you are definitely right to consult the happy couple.
I'm guessing that being kilted, you will be among the best-dressed there, whatever accessories you choose.
Have a great time!

I would say the PC would be too much, just as if you were to wear a tux to this event, it would be too much. I think your proposed outfit is spot on!
