this is like being invited into the "inner circle" of some ancient mystical society.
Both a member of the Tartan Authority, and a certified Master Kiltmaker through the Court at Lyon. There are all sorts of special resources available, and I'm MORE than happy to share them.
I consider it my "other" College education these days. I'm in transition from "member" to "scholar" and it takes a load of work.

Hamish, it's a DEEP respect for their dedication to the craft and the heritage. They have helped me immensely in the last four months... and they deserve the help to make others understand their CRAFT. Although I am certified, I STILL do not consider myself even NEAR their league. I have MANY years of work to go, in order to even shine their shoes! 8)

May I conclude, not just from the nature of your recent posts but also from the obvious dedication and commitment you've shown in your ongoing studies, that, before too long, the likes of us will be able to purchase a resplendent and fully traditional Karbomb Kilt?

Now that I have read this, I am fairly positive that the kilt makers at 21st Century Kilt employed this technique to secure the side hem on the front apron of my heavy weight 6-yarder. Further discussion on this topic, as well as a comparison of heavy vs. medium weight fabrics, can be found at:

I am pleased to have happened across this technical lesson from JimmyC.
