For me the bottom line is I love my job more than what hangs from my rear end. My most frequent wish (for kilts) is that more men wore them, so it wasn’t perceived as such a big deal. After I’m granted tenure (Lord willing), I may bring the kilt out more frequently, on occasions such as Burn’s Day, Tartan Day, etc, but I don’t foresee a future wherein I’m full time kilted.

Yeah: if for some reason I couldn't wear my kilts to my job, I wouldn't worry too much. I like my job and can do it well regardless of trousers or kilts.

Went to work... and KILT it!
Wore my Clan Lamont pleats into the office on Friday the 7th of June. One of the managers snapped the attached pic. The following Monday first thing said to me was, "Where's yer kilt?!?" Might have to wear the new one in when it arrives... hand done, bespoke woven material, 16 oz Clan Hay (ITI No. 1555) pleated on the sett.
Pictures when it's in!
Cheers,

That is interesting, I am a Concervative and I am pro-kilt. Kilts were men's clothing before jeans ever existed.

What you say is true, and I too am economically and socially conservative (referring to the area as rural and conservative was meant only as a descriptive point of reference for what folks generally expect). Technically I think I’m sartorially conservative too, hearkening back to an older style - not only those new-fangled jeans (just 146 years old)!

I’m socially conservative on the outside of the kilt and physically liberal on the inside of the kilt.

Lucky
I guess I am lucky. My principal wears his kilt on occasion so he is not likely to complain about me.
