That being said, I don't think there's any substitute for a hands-on kiltmaking workshop.
I took one from Elsie Stuehmeyer. It was, in truth, one of the most interesting weeks in my life. Spending that time with a room-full of cool people intent on the same thing I was, all the time getting hands-on instruction and loads of great stories about kiltmaking in Glasgow in the 1950s in Elsie's lovely Glaswegian accent.
I think Elsie is retired now, but I'm still very much enjoying their instructional book, and I love seeing Barb post real time tips to xmarksthescot.com!
