I have an ex hire I bought years ago that never fit me well. Let me see what size it is when I get home.

    That's Josh Brown.

    He's a good kiltmaker who uses high-quality UK-woven fabric.

Here's an XMarks member showing his Josh Brown kilt which looks great

However as is mentioned Josh was banned from XMarks for policy violations.

I think you meant 183 cm (which translates to 72 inches or 6 feet). At 1.83 cm tall, your 24" drop kilt would be HUGE!

I remembered I have an old listing for the kilt here (it never sold). Here are the deets.

“FOR SALE: Kilts4less, ex hire kilt in MacDonald modern size 42x24"

It was listed as 6 yards wool.

Original ad on ebay was "Ex Hire 42" waist 24" drop Macdonald Modern 6 Yard Wool Kilt A1 Condition"

I do not have a sufficiently fine scale so I cannot say what weight the fabric is but it is on the lighter side so it may be 13oz but that is speculation on my part.”

    St Kilda

There is a 35 waist x 24 inch 16 oz MacDonald of the Isles hunting ancient colors in clearance section on their site. Waist can be adjusted a bit up or down. Nice folks to deal with. I love mine in 14 oz. Looks good and extremely comfortable. A bit higher at 240 GBP, but it is new not exhire.

    Good luck.

    FWIW,

I have a kilt on order from Josh Brown of BoxPleatKilt, ordered well before the holidays. As soon as he had my payment, I stopped hearing from him. I've tried contacting him more than once to get a timeframe and to update my measurements. No responses. So, I'd have to recommend someone else. Which is a real shame, as I hear he does good work.

Just so you know, I believe the proprietor for UT Kilts was knocked off XMTS for cause as well...
