    I admit to being a casual bum bag wearer, they are very practical.

    If I'm hiking and need to carry more gear I use a small day pack (backpack.

    I hang things off my belt where I can (knife, mobile phone).

    I'm like you, there is certain "stuff" I must have before I go out (knife, phone, Palm, reading glasses, money purse) no sporran can take all that without being too bulky (and painful to wear )

    Bum bags or "fanny packs" work great (in front, like a sporran). Especially the nice black leather ones.
    And you'll have virtually no problem with the dreaded
    sporran tummy pooching effect. Especially if you wear it slightly off to one side. They work very nicely with a sarong too. Next time your going for a stroll on the beach in the Bahamas or Florida try it!

    posted above about the Freelander Sporran
    and it takes one to a picture of Hamish wearing
    his. Great picture Hamish. One of the best I've seen
    of you. Love the colors in that outfit man.
