I cannot believe usenet failed me on this one. Sounds like a fun series but it's nowhere to be found. Perhaps someone put it on dvd? (yes they did, the complete series is available in the bbcstore for barely 16 quid > http://www.bbcshop.com/drama+arts/ha...nvt/cctv30432/)

I think you are so right. Having read over the years the assorted unkind comments leveled at you chaps over there, I am amazed that so many of you do actually wear the kilt.

Hold on a minute ! Perhaps that is part of what the OP was trying to say?

Could have a lot to do with the large number of proud Highlanders that came to the New World, of their own choice and otherwise.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

I've never had a negative comment wearing a kilt in Canada - it just isn't that extraordinary.

Worth considering that there are almost as many Scottish-Canadians as there are Scots, that over half of our Prime Ministers have had Scottish ancestors and that Canada has often been referred to as the "Scottish Colony". Lots of reasons to celebrate our heritage.

However, when all is said and done, I wear a kilt because I like to with no apologies to anyone.

+2 John, although kilts are much rarer down south, the only negatives is from the teens and that is very rare. Young Canadians do have better manners. The rest of the kiddies love the kilts.

    hi lo kilters

to origial poster ..kilt anything is mainly for me from Uncles in regiments and Ma's stories about Scotland, and they wore them in diff't duties and all the family got real used to the sons and brothers and boyfriends being in them . So anywhere somebody might liek to feel connected beyond it's comfortable and what I'd call good manners or "a nice thing" to wear a kilt to dinner or a restaurant ..if you know the social background the whole Queen Victoria upper class kilt revival was based on outdoor do's (that almost turned out to be tudor duos) and dining and evening parties ..so the kilt fits into a lot of things -traditionally . You don't "HAVE" to be from Tennessee to like THE Charlie Daniels Band .
