My current kilt is handsewn--actually twice. One by the original kiltmaker for my father. Then once again by my grandmother who restored it after it had been completely dismantled for a resizing that never occured. It's lightweight saxony tartan however. I'm getting a new kilt soon made by Matthew Newsome--once I can get to the post office before it closes to mail him my tartan! :-)

I have a full weight Gordon highlander military kilt made by Hector Russel in Edinburgh in the 60,s. I got it re made to fit me by Hector russels in Toronto about 7 years ago. The kilt is in excellent condition and although very hot to wear is really such a beutiful piece of workmanship that I wear it as often as possible

So when I get the eight yard kilt made of Scottish (Strathmore) wool tartan and sewn by a lady who is from Scotland but she's currently living in Cincinnati....is it disqualified because she's making it in Ohio?

I have a handsewn kilt made in Inverness during my trip to Scotland last September. The kilt was made at The House of Fraser. All their kilts are hand-sewn. They even have an excellent Kilt Museum on the premises. I have a couple of "casual kilts", but nothing compares with a hand made, custom made kilt. The fit and feel are beyond comparison.

That counts... Lenora (I assume) made my McGregor 13oz. The Celtic Corner is a great shop.

    I own one, now.

It was an ebay purchase, but it was made in the 60's for the military. It fits me great. I've worn it walking, and it can get rather warm. The edge of the pleats are incredibly sharp, and the weight of it is something else compared to my other kilts.
