I hope you're joking! But if you're not, I'll PM you my address and help you assuage your conscience by taking some of that kit off your hands

Why, that's much like Edinburgh in August, then.

Apparently you can't please none of the people none of the time and rather than go around offending people that I've never met, I jus give up.

Time out! Take a breather, everyone! There's no reason to take a single, online discussion so personally.

Maybe I didn't say it loud enough to hear earlier... But whether or not someone (who you've most likely never met in your life, or never will meet) agrees or disagrees with your wearing the kilt, should have absolutely NO bearing on your choice of attire.

I'm sure I'm butchering an old, famous quote, but some wise person once said, that if you've lived your entire life without actually having offended or angered anyone, it means you've never really done anything meaningful.

Now, I'm not saying that anyone should go out and purposely try to offend and anger others, but if (WHEN) it happens, it's not YOUR problem -- it is the problem of the person who has chosen to TAKE offense at something you've said or done. Especially if it's someone you've never met. I don't feel at all responsible for the bugbears in other people's closets, nor should you.

This reminds me of my dad.... He's getting on in age, and even the slightest, little, inane things irritate him to no end. For instance, he can't STAND tattoos on people. He will work himself into a frothy FIT, swearing and complaining about how stupid he thinks it is. We have to calm him down and say, "Dad! Whether someone has or doesn't have a tattoo doesn't affect YOUR life in any way, shape, or form. So just don't look at them if it bothers you." Once I had to say to him: "Do you know the difference between someone who HAS tattoos and someone who DOESN'T have tattoos? .....A tattooed person does not care that you don't have any!"

And so it should be with kilts. If anyone (Scottish or otherwise) doesn't think you should be wearing it... Tough. Beans.

AA, if you don't want to sell your gear to Colin I know of a buyer in Scotland.... and then when you want to go pantless again I know of a chap in Scotland who has just what you will need in exactly the size for you. Silver's the name, reselling his game. He's just two doors down from Gold's.

Better if you keep it all, of course, and wear it when you have a mind to. All is well and the world turns. No need yet to get off.

John, just made representations to the PM and immigration minister and got word back that you and the family are now honourary Aussies, so ditch the Blackpool plans and head downunder. int: You guys are from the mother country after all. Cheers

Pretty much, its a good time to be sure. Tennessee is part of that "middle bit" of America that everyone seems to forget if you're from overseas. This is a shame, so come one and come all to Nashville, you will not regret it. In full disclosure I am a yankee originally from Michigan and only a transplant down here but this place really is great.

    Folks,

The OP of this thread has not logged into the forum for over three days. He has not seen much of what has happened to his thread.

I really believe that the original question has been discussed fully as the conversation now seems to want to go in a different direction.

May I please suggest that if you have something else to say on the topic of the original question that you post it here.
If, however, you wish to talk about another topic it would be only common courtesy to the OP to start another thread.

I have followed this thread for the duration and can see that this is a sketchy topic at best. Some bruised egos, hurt feelings, staunch opinions, and a long-time member leaving.
As per Steve's last post, the OP hasn't been on in three days. He probably got miffed and disgusted by the bellyaching and browbeating.

    Shame on all of us.

I move to close the thread and make this topic verbotten in the future. While it can be enlightening it requires delving into socio-political territory that brushes the forum rules and seems to quickly and repeatedly veer into a direction contrary to the spirit of the forum.

Let's all agree to disagree, drop the subject, and move on.

I dig all of you chaps, sincerely. Peace and good vibes to all. Let's end the bickering, no matter how veiled or overt it may be.
