Welcome to the club Ron! I've been wearing a kilt pretty much full time cooking AT WORK SINCE jULY of 04 ,and only once did I have to inform someone that it wasn't a bright idea to upset the cook before they got their food

This is turning out to be a very interesting thread.
I love hearing about what you all do for a crust and how you cope in a kilt.
I'm finding more and more that customers who walk into my office seem to care little about the kilt. few make any comment, and those that do are always positive or at least "tolerant".
Bubba, as I've said before, when I find myself doing a lot of ladder work, or walking along shop awnings in the main shopping area - I wear shorts. The risk of causing heart attacks among the elderly is too great.
BTW - the "coffee shop" job I quoted on, where I got a lot of grief from some grumpy scots sitting there....I won the contract! (kilt and all!)

Graham, some judgement is called for in all things, time, place and activity and all that.

Way to go on the coffee shop contract Graham!! I knew you could do it
People are noticing that the work is not necessarily tied to what we wear but what and how we do it, like this thread is saying.

Those modesty snaps on the Utilikilts work great for doing ladder work. That's what they're for.
They're also good for keeping the kilt down when the wind is up.

When I'm at work, briefs are a must, preferably in black so if they do get glanced, they won't stand out. (and neither will anything else)

I don't think I'll have the opportunity to wear my kilt to work, when it does arrive. I work in the banquet area of a Hilton hotel, and our dress code states black pants and a tux shirt. I could still wear the tux shirt and a tartan bow tie, but I don't think I could get away with the kilt. I'd be afraid of getting it soiled with food, or whatever, anyway.
Maybe when I move in May, my new job/employer will allow me the freedom to wear a kilt.
