I've always been a fan of the monologue that Tommy Lee Jones gives in Men In Black to Will Smith:

500 years ago everyone thought the world was round, 50 years ago everyone thought that greasy bacon and sausage was the best food for you, and 5 days ago you thought you thought we were alone in the universe (paraphrased)

Society always will have an oppinion like you said, Aaron, some things concidered normal then are met with anger now.

Of course, were this 700 years ago, we wouldnt be having this discussion because kilts were still in style! (well that and we wouldnt have computers, but that's another story)
