    Kilt Belt

    Hey RhodeRunner

    Great idea!

But for me I already own a large number of belts including WoNA sword belts which have beautiful buckles.

The chrome buckles just are too flashy & tacky for my tastes.

Ah!! Sorry I went AWOL for a couple days, guys. Been sewing some kilts!

I've been hoping to add a "Beach Kilts" page to the website. Basically, I use a light cotton "Hawaiian shirt" type of fabric. Here is one picture, and a link to another (larger) pic:

    Regarding HEMP:

I have considered hemp, and it was discussed it a bit here on "Xmarks". What I learned from Jimmy Carbomb is that 100% hemp is not going to work well. It tends to get "brittle" when forced to fold hard, and that's exactly what will happen at all the pleat edges. However, there are some nice hemp/cotton blends out there that may work really well. If anyone is interested, check out these fabrics and see if anything catches your eye.

For day wear, I often use my Regimental stable-belt (rifle green goes well with the red tartan) and gives a good base to hang a mobile phone pouch (courtesy of Dale Grabowski of Fort Worth TX).
