I yearn to live in a place that actually has seasons... to get more than 10" of rain a year... to see the leaves change... to wake up and find that it snowed overnight...
...then I see pictures like that and think to myself, "Maybe it's not so bad here after all."
Brrr, I just checked the forecast, they say it got down to 43 F. last night, and will only climb to 68 F.

I had the same yearning growing up in So. Cal. After graduation, I left CA - for good. I will never move back. Any time I go back to visit family, it feels like a different country - and I can't wait to leave.
Good state to be from.

We're supposed to get 5 inches of the white stuff tonight and more later this week.

You must have pretty thin blood. All of 5 degrees here with a predicted high of 17 and I still go out wearing my kilts with no problem.

Yup, and today I had my first experience kilted in weather this cold, about 6F, and in scraping the ice off my truck so I could go to work!
The kilt concealed a blaster strapped to his thigh. Lazarus Long

I think most folks who come from snowier climes will agree that the temperature is actually fairly nice while snow is falling - snow cannot form if it gets too cold out. So as cold as it looks, it's probably warmer than if you had just ice and no snow.
Like we've been having...

snowed in?
Last year we were snowed in for about a week, thus far this year just 5-6 inches. Temperature right around 34-36F so it is warming up a bit.
JerMc, whatever you do, do not run out of coffee. Up here it makes the world go round.
Just noticed I moved up in rank with my last post, huzzah.

My favorite snow was in the winter of 96/97 when I lived in an apartment in DC. The city was still governed by the Crackhead-In-Chief Marion Barry so nothing the city did worked right.
We spent almost a week with totally impassable roads because the city couldn't afford snow plows. Go figure!
Anyway, the only way you could get around was on foot and one of my favorite pubs was near my place. They were open every day through the storm and the week of "snow-in" and the entire time hot drinks (hot toddies, irish coffees, etc) were $1 a glass! I can't tell you how warm I was inside that snow storm. Too bad I wasn't kilted back then.

Not that thin. I'm still in t-shirts, shorts, and sandals (the kilt's a part-time thing). 8-)
