If I do officially announce my candidacy it'll be wearing my Ancient MacKay kilt with an argyle jacket & fly plaid! I've actually been cautioned by some advisors to run trousered but I refuse to compromise who I am to fit someone elses ideas.
Besides, I agree that the kilted angle will get great press. And since part of my whole stance is being different from the way things are usually done in Washington, I think an obvious visible difference will be a good thing.

Difference is very important! Most people do want difference, but without being overly obnoxious. Somehow a kilt does bring out a sense of authority.

That can move you up in the polls rather fast.

Also many find a man wearing a kilt with confidence to be very intimidating, which can be an advantage.

He didn't make another smart comment after that.
Maybe he wasn't necessarily trying to be funny. Out here in the West, we have HUGE problems with illegal aliens somehow magically being registered to vote (all it takes is a driver's license obtained with a forged birth certificate, and $200 cash for that), with both parties competing over their votes by vowing to increase the government dole for them. You probably just confirmed the fellow's suspicions. I'm not making this up, either. It's confirmed by several state workers I know, not to mention a couple of Congressmen I've spoken with.
I don't care what side you're on, non-citizens being allowed to vote is B.S., not a joke.
