    Ahhh, ummm, at the risk of being forever labelled a party pooper, I'll add my two cents that the tartan _does_ repeat (same in warp and weft). It's just an asymmetric tartan. This will give you guys another chance to examine the poster closely....!

    Hi Switchblade

    An asymmetric tartan is one that doesn't have a mirror image repeat. In most tartans, you can find a pivot point where you can fold the tartan in half, and one side is the mirror image of the other (ABCBABCBABCBA....., where "A" or "C" could be pivot points, for example; B is not a pivot point because the tartan is not same in both directions from B). An asymmetric tartan doesn't have a mirror (or pivot) point, e.g., repeating ABCABCABC like the one in the picture.
