I posted in the off topic section about my troubles with a "next day shipment" via DHL. I found out later that my address isn't covered by next day delivery, so I paid extra for next day and it took 6 days to get my item. I did not get a refund. The seller of the item (a handheld GPS unit from Washington State) did offer free shipping if I bought anything more from him. I've just written the whole thing off to "a learning experience. So, Fedfex is out and so is DHL. That leaves us with UPS or USPS. I'm with the others on the USPS. I'd always heard horror stories about lost mail and such, but I ordered something (can't remember exactly what?) but the USPS delivered it on a SUNDAY, yes, SUNDAY, because I ordered it shipped via express mail. I don't thank anyone else can beat that service.

The good thing about the USPS is that they will deliver practically everywhere in the US. I haven't had any real problems with any of the services. I consider this issue an annoyance more than anything.

I checked again and now it has made it's way to Maryland and is on the truck for delivery, so it should be waiting for me tonight.8-)

One more irritation: I went home for lunch and apparently FedEx tried to deliver, but now they want a signature. So, I'll have to sign their little form they left on the door and leave it for tomorrow. Usually they will leave the package at my door, but I guess they have a different driver!

Call them. Some of these delivery places will re-deliver at night when you're home from work. I get a monthly "Beer-of-the-Month" shipment that requires a signature (since it's alcohol) and they re-deliver at night if asked (after the initial attempt to deliver).

Also, there's usually a thing on the door tags that gives an address to which you can go to pick it up if they won't do an evening redelivery.

Actually, I've got tomorrow off, so I'll probably be around most of the day. I can leave the signed slip for those times when I'm away. As I said, usually they just leave it.

Fedex is like that. I signed a form stating where to leave packages and they still didn't leave them. UPS, on the otherhand, once left a muzzleloading rifle sitting on my front porch. And, this was in a "not so good" neighborhood.

LOL, they did the same for me. 1000 rounds of surplus .308 NATO ammo in a nice green ammo can. Right on the front porch for all the world to see, bright orange warning sticker and all. Yet they made me stay home and sign for some shoes... go figure

I got the package this morning. It's a custom made jacket and it fits like it was made for me.:-D

Unfortunately, they sent the wrong size waistcoat. I asked for a 50L and got a 48R, so it's both too short and too snug. I just sent them an email, so I guess I'll get to see how their exchange works.
