My first kilt is a Utilikilt and I love it. Now I want a tartan but haven't finished tracing my family enough to know which tartan would fit with that best. However, I am still jonesing for a casual kilt in a tartan. It will probably end up being something for Stillwater and probably in the Blackwatch. That way down the road when I my 8 yd traditional, handsewn and all that it will be even more special.

If somebody doesn't speak up soon and tell me their kilts are crap I'm gonna have a hard time not whipping out the plastic tomorrow and ordering one up. Shucks, their 8 yard heavyweights are only $314, that's almost $200 less than most Scottish kiltmakers are charging.
Shoot, okay, I'm gushing at the prospect and hoping some here have something good to say about them.

I have a had wonderful service from Scottishkilts.net
I first ordered the charcoal tweed argyle and waistcoat in April of last year. This year I ordered an 8 yard handsewn kilt. Both product are great quality, price, and turnaround time. The kilt is a thing of beauty. I will be ordering a dress sporran from them soon. I will look to them first when I need more highland gear. I highly recommend them and their products. I have pictures of both the jacket and the kilt in my album listed below in my signature.
Any future kilts I buy will be from these guys. The only downside to all of it, is that I am not as impressed with my other kilts anymore

Matt,
The standard 8 yard kilts are machine sewn, where as the premium 8 yard kilts are handsewn. For the difference of less than $100 (Jura range or Lochcarron range) I would definitely go for the handsewn. These are very well made kilts. I have done my darndest to find the stitching, but cannot. I am extremely happy with the make, feel, weight, hang, look, and appearance of my kilt from Scottishkilts.net. I think they are one of the best values out there for a traditional Scottish kilt.

Thanks Colin, I think they're going to be my next kilt. I'm looking for something a bit more knock around but still better than a PV and lighter than a tank, so the 5 yarder it is, and the price is what I can spare at the moment.
Matt, don't worry one of your box pleated beauties is on the top of my list, probably in a heavyweight military tartan. I can feel the plastic melting in my pocket, too many kilts, not enough money.

Okay, it's a done deal. I just placed my order for one of scottshkillts.nets 5 yard fitted kilts in hunting Stewart. I'm hoping to have it pleated to stripe but they haven't gotten back to me about that possibility yet. Not a great big deal but I think it would look good that way.
With their prices and being made to measure I think the Breacan is off my short list for the moment, this will bring one of Matt's four yard box pleated kilts to the top as my next kilt, hopefully before summer. Then it'll be a full blown tank and assorted formal accessories for my wedding later this year.
And on and on it goes........
