Just tell him the guy organizing the big rugby tourney in the US is seeing what can be done on his end...Trust me I want it REALLY bad but $1100 for that is a lot of money to drop on the kilt suit....it is rougly $1100 right?
I don't doubt that you're a fun loveable guy (it takes one to know one) but even that doesn't get a free kilt suit from Howie, take it from me!!

The suit price depends very much on the fabric selected. The list price here ranges from about $1040 to $1220, at todays rate of exchange. As an Overseas customer you would not have to pay our Tax which, on $1,000 is $149.

(PS: The price for each suit is for a three-piece suit with hose and kilt-pin thrown in).

Whatever you select (it's your choice!), enjoy!

So basicly 15% is what you pay for VAT? OUCH!! I groan at the 5% state tax here and don't think the goons who collect it spend it in any way that the average citizen would approve of. How do those beaurocrats justify their existence? What does the average schmo get for 15% of everything he spends? And that's not even taking income and other taxes into account>

Sorry for the thread hijack, taxes with nebulous benefit get me going.

Just think of how much more you'll have to spend when you finally find out that you don't owe that tax and you stop having your taxes done and you pocket your hard earned money. I haven't paid or filed income taxes in 15 years.

Actually, and I was never any good at arithmetic, our VAT is 17.5%.

Yeah I was constantly doing VAT taxes in my head while hiking through Italy. Thankfully the place where I got my lush hand made leather blazer took out the VAT when I agreed to pay in the few travellers checks I brought over for emergency purposes....

I'm still doing some numbers and hopefully it all works out in the end...

Seriously, I'd go with the trip, too. Then you can sell "tales of adventure" to buy your kilts later.

I like the first part better . Seems like the best of both worlds to me. Have fun what ever you decide. And, remember if you chose not to decide you still have made a choice!
