Ahhhhhhhhhhh! No more sitting on a bunched up kilt for me. Or sitting on a hot or cold chair.
Thank you Hamish, your video demonstration is very much appreciated by those of us who are visual learners. Now for a little one and two handed sweep practice. Once they are mastered it is on to the "no hands" technique.

Always one to do what I am told, or politely asked to do, I THINK I now have managed to produce, direct and star in a short video clip on the subject of "Sweeping the Pleats"!

The practice some have referred to where you start sitting and then back yourself into the chair in a graceful sliding motion - that is what I saw Scotty do on an episode of Star Trek the original series and I was afraid that was required. You see, I am somewhat of a klutz and was convinced I would sit down just short of the chair, the kilt would get caught on the chair, and I would end up on the floor on my butt flashing everyone at the party.

In any case, I thoroughly enjoyed your movie and you seem like a natural in front of the camera. When can we expect a sequel?

Many thanks Phil, and everyone else. The unfortunate flashing (it was only a very brief flash!) was because I set my camera far too low and it was too much face to face. I raised the camera a little and turned the chair slightly and the end result was more acceptable.

In reality, these things do take a short while to become second nature. As a novice, just practice and before you realise it, you'll have it. The management of the kilt is really nothing more than common sense. No-one taught or showed me how to sit, how to get in and out of cars, etc. I just did what I felt was right at the time.
