Thanks everyone. Very kind of you.
I picked up the sporran at my local Scottish clothiers here in San Diego. Here's a clearer picture of one, though this one has a funky top flap - not properly proportioned - and isn't finished quite as well. J Byous Kilts and Leather Sporrans carry them online.
Hamish, the check for the royalties on "the pose" is in the mail. Thanks for the retro-permission. I'd hate to think I breached something.
I'd never thought of my hairless style as "a wide part." How appropriate.
Thanks again, everyone, for the positive comments. Coming from you lot it really means something.
Regards,
Scott Gilmore

I have to agree on the "red tartan" comments.

That's a beautiful tartan, and you wear it well! I like that sporran a lot, too.
[b][SIZE=2] In Soviet Russia, kilt wears you.

Thanks for all the compliments on our clan's tartan. This kilt is in the ancient version of the Morrison red tartan. The modern version's colors are, to my eye, a bit bright. The muted reds and greens in this tartan are very attractive - good contrast in a pleasing pattern.
Quick story: Clan Morrison is not one of the more prosperous Highland clans. Life on Lewis was, I think, rather spartan, so there isn't a wealth of information on the tartans used by my people. In the mid 20th century though, the "real" Morrison tartan - the red I wear - was rediscovered wrapped around a bible found bricked in behind a fireplace in a three-hundred year-old blackhouse at the time being refurbished. The date in the bible: 1747, just after the wearing of tartans was outlawed.

Scott Gilmore
