I saw the officer around a number of times before I asked for his photo. Never noticed the flashes. Never saw them on the pic. Only saw them when I went back and checked after Matt's post. Course, they weren't red flashes.
And thanks for the tartan ID Matt. Now wondering why both guys are wearing the same tartan...

No problem on that, I'll have plenty of pics. I'll look for an officer in a kilt at Highland Ranch too. Out to see if we can get Norbydog to get a photo taken in uniform but with the kilt

I would that other departments would allow that!
Terribly impractical for daily patrol, but great for an off-duty gig like that!
With my department, you could get dinged for "Conduct unbecoming," or some other nonsense.

Too true. The powers to be just don't seem to have a sense of humor. The good thing at Estes is that the kilt seems to be the uniform during the games.

If things hadn't been so crazy busy here at work I would've responded to this thread earlier & identified the tartan, too.
The reason they're wearing the same tartan is that both kilts were provided (free of charge) by Graeme Niven of Arizona Kilts. Graeme was also the one who recommended that the policemen wear sporrans with the kilts (sporrans also provided by Graeme).
Hey, Ron & Bradley, Phil & I looked for you guys up there at Flag, but we never did see you two - & we were there both days! Don't know how we could miss each other since we're all fairly "unique" looking... Guess next time we'll have to arrange a specific time & place to meet. Sorry I missed ya, I was looking forward to a mini X Marks convention there...

Thanks for that kilted cop background. What a great promo idea.
Sorry to miss you too. Did look...guess our search patterns never overlapped.

I must admit, I love the kilt belt.

Hey, I saw my name! I gotta talk then!
I totally agree with Streetcar, if there is absolutely no chance that the officer will be involved in any "unsanctioned wrestling match", why not wear a kilt and be festive? But, I would not want to wear a kilt while on patrol....I would end up with a torn kilt, skinned knees, and too many idiotic comments to actually do my job.
Since I live in a community of less than 30.000 people, I am known as the 'crazy cop that wears kilts'- not a name that I chose, but several people have referred to me as. I do run into some of my 'clients' occasionally when I am off duty and kilted, and they are so stunned by what I have on, that they forget about why they have a beef with me. Either that or they just think I more insane than they ever expected.
I am excited to see the kilted officers at Estes Park this year.
On that idea......do you think I could wear my badge as a kilt pin? Just kidding!

I need pictures of police officers wearing the kilt as part of their uniform. I am trying to get a friend of mine to wear a kilt. And the only way will be if he sees other brother officers wearing them. Thanks. Frank
