hottest July on record
-- here in France, at least.
38°c some days, down to 26° early morning.
Comment from a hotel proprietor -- "well, you look comfortable, even if no-one else is with this weather." (in home-made lightweight stewart grey).

I am making lighter and lighter kilts - I'm almost down to gauze.
It is really hot here on the South Coast of England, though we do not have a hosepipe ban, and we have had several heavy showers and a couple of really spectacular thunder storms which have done some damage to houses, but luckily I have not heard of anything more than a burnt arm inflicted on a person.
I have a grape vine out in the garden and for the first time ever I am seeing bunches of grapes swelling beyond the size of peas, and in July too.
I espect that the snails will eat them all overnight once they get soft enough, but despite a rather cold Spring, everything in the garden is far in advance of any year since we came here about 25 years ago.
At least when sitting at the computer desk I can fold back the aprons and get the benefit of any cool air.
