If a woman is wearing a USA Kilt, Freedom Kilt, Union Kilt, Neo Kilt, Sport Kilt, or an R Kilt, are you just as upset.
.
A kilt is a kilt. I picked the UK because they are everywhere, that is all I wear and I saw a woman wearing one at a Scottish event.

Of course a kilt is a men's garment, but when women like to wear it....we can't stop them and it might even look good.
We like to wear what we want...kilts...perfect, great! And we now tell others not to wear what they want? that's odd.
Like it or not...a kilt is a skirt...pleated, straps, tartan, fringe, whatever...it's still a skirt.
No reason to panic...few women will buy kilts. Those who do...well they might like them for the same reasons as we do...and I can't blame them.
After all...kilts are great.

No, The unwritten but well known general rule is...
Women wear whatever they want to... that would include utilikilts.
The only fashion boundaries are what they set for themselves.

"Freedom to choose what we want to wear"....that's gender neutral in my mind. (In others I hope as well.)
You are entitled to your opinion and I'll respect it but not agree with it.

Exactly. Whether we like it or not, they're going to wear what they please. Which means that the unenlightened masses will think we're wearing s___t's. Double-edged sword... But, I'm to the point where I just don't care much anymore. As long as they aren't wearing 8-10 yard traditional tanks, I'm fine with it. Otherwise, they may hear the word c____d_____r come out of my mouth.

It may be gender nuetral, but a lot of women seem to have the attitude, What's mine is mine, what's yours is ours. Just try entering a women's bowling tournament. The women compete in the men's tournament, but men aren't allowed in women's tournaments. Same situation with "Anika" and the PGA.

You really are overly concerned about what everyone else is doing. Womens fashion is a giant machine that, like you suggested in another post, runs over what gets in its way. Worrying about women wearing anything is a hopeless venture.
I think it might help to ask yourself this question... Why do you wear a kilt?
Until you've completely satisfied yourself that this kilted path you're walking is
a. a liberty you're entitled to,
b. worth being seen as a non-conformist,
c. an enhancement to your quality of life,
d. an acitivity you're completey justified in persuing,
...you will never be able to stop worrying about issues like this.
It doesn't matter whether you kilt is a traditional or a modern variant, a kilt is a statement about who we, as individuals, are. I suggest that you wear your kilt for your own reasons and be proud of it.

hmm...I'll agree, women in minikilts=sexy.
then again, should a woman decide to wear the kilt, shouldn't she be subject to the same rules as we men? I wonder how many women in a knee-length kilt are approached about a kilt check, and what the reaction is?

Oh....well if we can look UNDER the kilt then of course women can wear them. Yes, this sounds like it could be lots of fun! Bring on the kilts!

wow Pbpersson, you changed your tune pretty quick!!!
As a woman who wears a UK and as well an AK very frequently, I feel I can add my 2 cents...
I'd suggest that it's not the woman wearing the kilt that gives most men pause for concern, rather the thought that the general public may think a man wearing the same garment was anything less than a man.
It should be noted that while I'm not the most femme chick in the world, I'm not stone butch either. Every time I wear my UK I get a positive comment from men and women alike. All of the people commenting have known it was a kilt and expressed genuine interest in it. They see it for exactly what it is, a rugged pleated garment, not anything inherently male or female.
This debate will go on and on and I fear this is the sort of thread that may get locked. I hope it doesn't. I really dig guys in kilts, and women in kilts....I just love kilts.
